Who this is for
  • Directors and shareholder-directors of Ugandan companies
  • Directors who sign returns but don't see the detail
  • Directors with their own rental income, dividends or loans from the company
  • Anyone about to leave a board, sell their stake or guarantee company debts
The problem

Company problems don't always stay with the company.

Most directors assume a company's tax is the company's problem. Usually it is. But Uganda's tax law has provisions that can reach the people running the company in some situations, and URA looks hardest where tax was collected from others and kept.

  • PAYE and withholding tax deducted from staff or suppliers but not paid over to URA.
  • A company that closes or stops trading with tax still owing.
  • Your own position: rental income in your name, dividends, director loans and benefits that were never declared.

The review is private. It is between you and us, and it does not alert URA.
